I wish I could tell you about some elegant, culinary inspired story about this simple yet beautiful little Blood Orange with Almond Milk Yogurt breakfast. That I got inspired by a food magazine or blog that was featuring beautiful blood oranges and ways to use them. Often times I do get inspired by food magazines or other bloggers. But this little Blood Orange with Almond Milk Yogurt dish was actually my attempt to introduce oranges in a new way to my toddler who currently, won’t touch orange wedges. So I thought I might change it up in introducing oranges a different way to her. (For more of my toddler feeding journey check out my Apple Cinnamon Energy Bite post.) Unfortunately such attempt did not go as well as I thought… 🙁
So I decided to just incorporate these beautiful blood orange slices in with my morning yogurt, (Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt) and OH MY GOODNESS was it delicious! Who new that something as simple as placing a sliced blood orange on your yogurt and sprinkling a little coconut sugar on top would turn into something truly incredible and how I think I’ll prep my yogurt from here on out. It’s truly the little surprises in life and make it sweet! And also, how can you not just be in awe of these beautiful sunset red oranges?! They are truly just beautiful!
I hope you love this fun way of eating oranges/blood oranges! The preparation for this Blood Orange with Almond Milk Yogurt Recipe is so simple and your taste buds will truly thank you. 🙂
NOTE: Since I don’t eat a ton of dairy I used Kite Hill’s Plain Almond Milk Yogurt in this recipe. If you’re looking for a delicious dairy free yogurt Kite Hill is in my opinion the best. Of course, if you don’t need to be dairy free and prefer regular yogurt I’m sure any plain or vanilla yogurt will also taste wonderful along side blood oranges and coconut sugar. 😉 Enjoy!
- 5 oz. plain or vanilla yogurt I used Kite Hill's Plain Almond Milk Yogurt
- 1 small blood orange or regular orange
- dusting of coconut sugar
- Place orange slices on top of yogurt and sprinkle desired amount of coconut sugar on top. Enjoy!
