1/8cuppure maple syrupmore if necessary if the mixture is still too dry
1/8cupmini chocolate chipsregular are just fine, the minis just mix in a little better.
Instructions
In a large fry pan over low heat toast the nuts for 3-4 minutes or until very fragrant but not browning. Watch VERY carefully because they can burn quickly.
Let the nuts cool for a couple of minutes and then thrown them into a food processor.
Blend up the nuts until they resemble the look of course coffee grounds then add in the dates, pure maple syrup, pinch of sea salt, vanilla extract and flax if using.
Pulse the mixture until it starts clumping together and is pulling away from the sides of the bowl a bit. Add in more maple syrup if it still feels a little too try.
Roll the mixture into individual sized balls. Makes about 10-14 balls depending on size.
